People Marc CooperThe journalist, author and professor was translator to Chilean President Salvador Allende, and he escaped Chile eight days after the coup. He returned this year and has produced the Chile: Utopia Postponed dig for Truthdig. Marc has spent the last five decades traveling the country and the world as a political and cultural reporter. His work has appeared in scores of publications. He has written three nonfiction books, including the Los Angeles Times bestseller 'Pinochet and Me: A Chilean Anti-Memoir.'
Pablo Abufom SilvaA political activist and professional translator based in Santiago, Chile, he was an active participant in the 2019 social explosion. Pablo was involved in the campaign of Gabriel Boric, the millennial leftist who is now president of Chile. Pablo is spokesperson for the political grouping Movimiento Solidaridad and is a member of the board of The Institute of Anti-capitalist Studies. He holds a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Chile and is a collaborator with the Spanish language edition of Jacobin magazine.
Suzi WeissmanThe professor of politics at Saint Mary’s College of California sits on the editorial boards of the journals 'Critique' and 'Against the Current'. She is the author of 'Victor Serge: a Political Biography' (Verso). Suzi hosts an interview-based podcast for Jacobin magazine. She is co-producing a film on Leon Trotsky. During the Pinochet dictatorship, Suzi was an active member of Chile Democratico, an exile-based organization fighting for a return to democracy in Chile.
