A stray dog named Kanellos has apparently been on the front lines of most major protests in Greece over the past two years. He is also the focus of a blog, the subject of a recent Guardian photo essay, and the inspiration for several YouTube video homages.
A stray dog named Kanellos has apparently been on the front lines of most major protests in Greece over the past two years. He is also the focus of a blog, the subject of a recent Guardian photo essay, and the inspiration for several YouTube video homages.
The dog, whose name in Greek means cinnamon, is shown in some of the hairiest situations as police spray tear gas and get violent with demonstrators.

Communal activities, from attendance at sporting events to civic organizations, have plummeted. We are isolated and have become hapless victims of corporate propaganda. We must reconnect to resist.
