Flynt Offers Akin $1 Million to Prove ‘Legitimate Rape’ Claim
Hustler Publisher Larry Flynt says he will give Todd Akin the monetary reward if the Missouri GOP Senate candidate can substantiate his controversial comments about rape and abortion.
Larry Flynt says he will give Todd Akin $1 million if the Missouri GOP Senate candidate can substantiate his controversial comments that women have ways to prevent pregnancy in the instance of “legitimate rape.” In a full-page ad set to appear in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Sunday, the Hustler publisher says he will hand over the money if Akin provides evidence supporting his “special knowledge that women who are raped will naturally not get pregnant.”
Flynt says in the ad:
In order to collect your $1 million cash reward, I will accept from you any proof in the form of scientific, peer-reviewed studies conducted by acknowledged experts in the field, published in accredited scientific or medical journals — or notarized statements collected by you, your campaign staff or the Romney/Ryan campaign from 10,000 rape victims asserting that not one of them ever got pregnant as a result of being raped.
Flynt has made similar offers this election cycle targeting other Republicans who have made outrageous comments regarding rape and abortion, like Indiana Senate candidate Richard Mourdock. Flynt also tried to get information regarding GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s tax returns, offering a million for that information.

Akin is the latest Republican left scrambling after comments about rape to catch Flynt’s eye. He already ran one of his full-page newspaper ads targeting Richard Mourdock, the Indiana Senate candidate who polls show is flailing after his comments about rape, conception and God’s will.
Flynt’s newspaper ad trick also showed up in the presidential race. Back in September, he offered a million bucks to anyone with verifiable information about the contents of Mitt Romney’s tax returns.
Flynt’s offer to Akin expires Monday before midnight — just before Missourians head to the polls to cast their ballots in a close race between Akin and the Democratic incumbent, Sen. Claire McCaskill.
