“What the United States Senate is about to do hurts,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren told protesters moments before the Senate confirmed Kavanaugh. “It hurts every survivor of sexual assault who has been ignored.”

Also present Saturday was a handful of President Trump’s supporters, some of whom argued that Democrats were using Christine Blasey Ford and her testimony as a political football for the upcoming midterm elections.

The mood was not only tense but emotional. For many women, the Kavanaugh confirmation process was a reminder of personal traumatic experiences.
